Common mental health problems include the following:
· Anxiety and anxiety related disorders (panic disorder, phobias and
post traumatic stress),
· Depression,
· Stress,
· Insomnia (difficulty sleeping).
These problems can affect our daily lives, relationships and physical health in many different ways. There is no single cause of these common problems and the reasons why they develop can be complex. They are often triggered by difficult life events, such as the death of someone special, moving house or marital problems.
Without support and treatment, common mental health problems can have a serious affect on you and those around you. It is important to recognise when this happens to you so that you can look for help and support. If you feel you are no longer able to manage the feelings you are experiencing, you should visit your GP. He or she will be able to help you.
