Turn your ash to cash with the help of NHS South Gloucestershire

No Smoking

NHS South Gloucestershire is running two new stop smoking programmes to help smokers quit their habit and turn their ash into cash.

In these credit crunch times, a family could save £2,111 a year if just one 20-a-day member gave up.

NHS South Gloucestershire’s Stop Smoking team will be offering an eight week programme for anyone who wants to quit from 2nd June, every Tuesday, at two locations.

  • Staple Hill Library, 7-8 The Square, Broad St, Staple Hill from 10.30am to 11.30am.
  • Kingswood Leisure Centre, Church Road, Soundwell from 6pm to 7pm

The programme is free for anyone who wishes to stop smoking and is over 16 years old.

The Stop Smoking Programme offers:

  • Support, encouragement, information and advice from a trained specialist advisor
  • Nicotine replacement therapy on prescription
  • Personalised quit plans, tailored to suit individual needs
  • Support and encouragement from others who understand and are in the same situation and with whom you can swap hints and coping strategies
  • Informal and relaxed atmosphere.

Jean Allchorne, Stop Smoking Advisor for NHS South Gloucestershire, said: “Last year, we helped over a thousand smokers in South Gloucestershire to quit and research shows that you are four times more likely to succeed with NHS support. You will feel real physical benefits almost immediately and you’ll be quids in. For someone who smokes 20 cigarettes a day they’ll save more than £2,000 a year if they quit.”
