BNSSG Cluster Board Meetings

Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust Cluster

On 1 June 2011, Primary Care Trusts have streamlined their management teams as part of new cluster arrangements.  NHS Bristol has joined with NHS North Somerset and NHS South Gloucestershire to form the BNSSG cluster.

The cluster is not a statutory organisation, all primary care trusts remain as individual statutory organisations and retain their statutory powers and obligations but will work together as a 'cluster' under a single chief executive and management team.

Clusters will support the development of the National Commissioning Board and Clinical Commissioning Groups. We will continue to work closely with local authorities in developing the new Health and Wellbeing Boards and ensure that statutory primary care trusts are in the best position to maintain delivery of day-to-day NHS business.

NHS Bristol chief executive, Deborah Evans, has been appointed as chief executive for the BNSSG cluster. The chief executive is accountable for quality, finance, performance and the development of commissioning functions across the whole cluster area, supported by a single executive team. These directors will continue to be employed by their current organisations.

The name and branding of current primary care trusts will not change due to legal and governance purposes, with the exception of when a communication is from the CEO and covers all three PCTS.

Existing PCT Boards will continue to have a key role in delivering their statutory business, decision making and accountability, supported by the single executive team in the cluster.
